Ruben Barrales
Ruben Barrales is Senior Vice President, External Engagement for Diverse Segments, Representation & Inclusion (DSRI). Barrales works with national strategic partners to advance Wells Fargo’s diversity and inclusion efforts for employees, customers, and diverse communities. Barrales joined Wells Fargo in 2019, after serving as president & CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, and of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network. He also led a consortium of nonprofit organizations focused on increasing the number of Latinos in state and local government.
Prior, Barrales served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of White House Intergovernmental Affairs.
The son of Mexican immigrants, Ruben was the first Latino elected to the San Mateo County (California) Board of Supervisors, where he focused on public safety, education, and economic development for diverse communities.
Barrales was recognized as one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” in the United States by Hispanic Business Magazine, and received the “Ohtli Award” from the Government of Mexico for his commitment to improving the well-being of Hispanics in the United States.
He has served on the Board of Directors of the Public Policy Institute of California, the Advisory Board for the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research, and as Vice-Chairman of the California Commission on Local Governance for the 21st Century.
