John H. Moye serves as Director of the Office for Policy & Legislative Affairs at the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. Moye relocated to the Atlanta Metropolitan area from New York City in the summer of 2014. He spent over 20 years in public service beginning his career working for former New York Governor Mario M. Cuomo. He made a career change and entered the nonprofit sector.

Moye was appointed as Director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs (OPLA) in 2019. In OPLA, he leads the team’s efforts to advance the Urban League’s legislative and policy agenda through collaboration with city agencies, the Atlanta City Council, Georgia State Legislature and other key stakeholders. Moye initially joined the ULGA in September 2016 in the Office of the Workforce Development, Education and Training, where he worked to ensure the League’s workforce priorities and programs were effectively implemented.

Prior to joining ULGA, Mr. Moye served as the Commissioner’s principal representative for the New York State Department of Labor in New York City. The New York State Department of Labor provides unemployment and employment resources for New York State residents, as well as business and labor information and services. In this capacity, Mr. Moye worked with the region's congressional delegation; state and local labor, elected and appointed officials and stakeholder organizations promoting the policies and initiatives of DOL.

Additionally, Mr. Moye served as Executive Director of the Nassau County Office of Minority Affairs. He was instrumental in shepherding the County’s Minority and Women Business Enterprise Program, working to fulfill the commitments of the Nassau County Executive to increase the participation of Certified Minority and Women Businesses in county contracting. His department initiated comprehensive reform of county procurement policy and practices to increase the contracting participation of M/WBE’s from $700,000 in 2002 to over $50 million dollars in 2009.

As Executive Director of Minority Affairs, Moye was responsible for safeguarding the civil rights of employees and applicants for employment and for overseeing the County's Affirmative Action Program. He also advised the Nassau County Legislature and County Department Heads on improving the delivery of services such as social services, health services and public safety.

He served in the administration of former Governor Mario M. Cuomo as an Assistant Appointments Officer in the NYS Executive Chamber. Mr. Moye was later appointed as a Regional Compliance Officer with the New York State Department of Transportation in the Civil Rights Division. Moye majored in Political Science with a concentration in English at the City University of New York at Queens College where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree. Mr. Moye resides in Loganville, GA with his wife and children.
