Shalima L. McCants is an engaging community leader who has dedicated her efforts towards creating pathways for opportunities and success for children and youth with a focus on leadership development for girls. Equipped with 19 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, Ms. McCants is a licensed social worker with experience in case management, youth development and post-secondary education.

Currently Ms. McCants serves as the Chief Program Officer for the New York Urban League and is primarily responsible for strategic program management and expansion, corporate and community partnerships, supervising Master of Social Work interns and serving as the Advisor to the New York Urban League Young Professionals chapter.

Recently, Ms. McCants was recognized by the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers as a Mid-Level Career Professional and inducted into the Women in Human Services Hall of Fame by the Nonprofit for a Stronger New York City.

Ms. McCants serves on the Leadership, Development and Training committee for the National Urban League Young Professionals and Auxiliary Transition Committee for the National Urban League. She also maintains active membership in the Zeta Nu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc; member of the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, Chartering Secretary of the Parliamentarian of Westchester and the immediate past President of the New York Urban League Young Professionals.
