Cherida Smith
Cherida Smith is Lyft’s Driver Advisory Council (DAC) representative for the Pacific Region, liaising between Lyft Headquarters and Drivers in California, Hawaii, and Nevada.
Prior to participating on the DAC, Cherida became a full-time Lyft driver after searching for independence from a 9-5 role in Justice Policy consulting.
Cherida has been a Lyft driver since 2014, where her first ride was to the CDC in Atlanta. During her DAC term, Cherida advocated for Local Driver Advisory councils Nationwide and led the women’s driving community as guest speaker for Lyft’s International Women’s Day.
Cherida is born and raised in Oakland, California, and an alumna of Spelman College; also holding a Master of Science degree in Justice, Law, and Society from the American University School of Public Affairs.
The daughter of a lineage of Black entrepreneurs, Cherida is charged to blaze a trail for women and people of color in the Gig Economy space.
