LOUISVILLE (May 8, 2023) – The Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY) kicked off Kentucky Derby weekend in a grand fashion by hosting their annual gala.

The gala, held on Wednesday, May 3rd at the Norton Sports and Learning Campus, is the Urban League’s biggest fundraiser.

Interim President Lyndon Pryor said this event is all about the League.

He said, “This is our major fundraiser, so we are going to talk about the work, and hope people support the work and what we are doing; trying to transform this community and make it a more equable place for everybody.”

Founder of the Academy of Music Production Education and Development Dave Christopher said that the gala “show the public and the community how much we come together and how well we can work together.”

He continued, “And all of these folks in this place, we are in west Louisville, you know something they thought would never happen. So to be in this space, be with these folks and amazing community leaders and its partners, it shows we can get this done.”

Proceeds from the gala will go to expanding the Urban League’s west Louisville campus and their affordable housing programs.
