ELYRIA – The Lorain County Urban League (Elyria, OH) hosted its Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon on July 14th, with a theme of “Celebrating Black Excellence in Healthcare.”

Held at the Lorain County Community College’s Spitzer Center, the Urban League gave out awards “to individuals that embody the Urban League’s mission to empower African American and underserved individuals in our community,” according to the Urban League.

This year’s honorees include Justin Lee, who serves as the sterile processing manager for Cleveland Clinic Avon; Melody Hunker, who is the director of quality for Mercy Health Lorain; Cassandra Robinson, store director at the Lorain Meijer store; and Juanity McIin, who works in environmental services for University Hospitals.

According to Dee Baker, the Urban League’s director of outreach and community engagement, the hospitals “were the ones who identified these individuals as ones who were exemplary in serving our family and friends.”
