The Urban League of Lexington supports first generation college students

The Urban League of Lexington - Fayette County awarded 12 $1,000 scholarships recently to high school seniors, and 8 to continuing education students. They distributed the scholarship funds during their recent LIFT conference. 

In all, they awarded $20,000 in 2020! LIFT is a college and career readiness conference for P-12 students and their parents. They also conducted a COVID-19 presentation on EEP called "What COVID-19 is Teaching Us" to the parents in attendance.

    Result

    Eight of  the scholarship awards went to students who will continue onto college, and the other two went to first generation high school students. One of the high school students who received these funds has autism.
