About the Virtual Financial Empowerment Center
In 2021, with a significant investment from DoorDash, the National Urban League launched a new financial empowerment site, GoalUp.org, specifically aimed to support historically underrepresented gig economy workers – including women, non-binary people, and People of Color.
GoalUp provides Urban League’s tested and proven financial literacy educational offerings available to any Dasher with an internet connection, regardless of proximity to one of the Urban League’s 92 brick and mortar affiliate locations across the country. To date, Dashers have completed more than 3,300 of the site’s 55+ financial education courses.
Again in partnership with DoorDash, the National Urban League launched the Virtual Financial Empowerment Center (VFEC) in 2023 designed to offer financial literacy education resources that reach Urban League participants of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds, to take positive financial action towards their future.
VFEC App
The National Urban League, in partnership with DoorDash, is proud to announce the expansion of the Virtual Financial Empowerment Center (VFEC) through the launch of the VFEC App. With the launch of the app, access to financial empowerment resources will expand dramatically, allowing program participants to engage with expert-driven financial literacy tools—anytime, anywhere. The mobile platform will feature curated, on-demand content, engaging short-form videos, and interactive lessons, meeting people where they are and equipping them with the knowledge they need to navigate their financial journey with confidence.
