Joy Clark Newkirk
Director of Programs, Urban League of Broward County
Joy is Director of Programs at the Urban League of Broward County (ULBC), the largest area of the organization, making up over $5 million of the agency’s overall budget. Joy strives daily to excel at investing in people to help them become socially and financially self-sufficient. A love of people and finances is at her core. She graduated high school with a strong passion for financial management sparked from years of running her own bank in her mother’s garage.
Joy brings 18+ years of experience in transitional housing management, economic services, juvenile delinquency, public assistance, corrections, family and individual counseling. Prior to joining the ULBC, Joy served as a Field Advisor and lead on the delivery of the Neighborhood Technical Assistance grant for Barry University's School of Social Work; and held clinical and supervisory positions at New Horizons Community Mental Health Center, The Children’s Home Society of Florida, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, Victim Services Center now known as the Trauma Resolution Center in Miami, and the Florida Department of Children and Families.
