Ayanna Fortson

Director of Housing & Community Development, National Urban League

Ayanna Fortson is the Director for the National Urban League’s Housing and Community Development Division, overseeing their financial coaching, pre-purchase and general housing efforts. She is on the NYC Bar Association’s Right to Counsel Task Force, focusing on effective implementation of NYC renters’ right to legal counsel in housing court. Additionally, she recently completed her appointment as a Council Member for NYC’s Housing Court Advisory Council, where she aided in the selection of housing court judges and assessed the state of NYC’s housing court system. Ayanna earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her master’s degree in urban planning from Virginia Commonwealth University.
