Tyler Litt

President, Urban League of Louisiana Young Professionals, National Urban League

Tyler Litt (she/her) is a Senior Associate Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund on the the Innovative Public Schools team. In this role, Tyler serves as a generalist, supporting both selection and diligence and management assistance initiatives with a focus. Prior to joining NewSchools, Tyler served as Senior Director of Community Investments & Equity and Director of Investments at New Schools for Baton Rouge.

Tyler has focused her career over the decade on disrupting and challenging systems that prevent students and families from accessing quality education. "Genius is evenly distributed, opportunity is not"--has been the driving force behind her love and passion for supporting organizations that provide equity, joy, and strong standards for students to cultivate their genius. Her love for education began when she taught middle school science and grew as she taught high school science and served as Coordinator of Student Activities at Cristo Rey Baton Rouge High School. Tyler earned her BS in Biological Sciences from Loyola University of New Orleans.

After joining the movement in 2018, her love for collective impact and social justice grew. Tyler serves as the Chapter President of the Urban League of Louisiana Young Professionals (2022-2024) and formerly served as Vice President (2021), and Professional Development Chair (2020). This year, Tyler was awarded one of the inaugural Vice President of the Year Awards for her service in 2021. She is a proud 2021 graduate of the Whitney M. Young Jr. Emerging Leaders Program, current YP Institute participant, and member of the NULYP Leadership, Training, and Development committee. She is both humbled and grateful for the opportunities to learn, to serve, and to grow alongside young professionals throughout the movement.

In addition to her local leadership in the movement, Tyler is President-Elect of Forum 225 and an active board member of Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce, Urban League of Louisiana, Corporate Internship Leadership Institute, and BRidge Agency; she serves on the Baton Rouge Area Foundation's Nonprofit Excellence Advisory Council, Leadership Baton Rouge (Class of 2022), Public Affairs Research Emerging Leaders Council, and is a current Memorial Foundation Social Justice Fellowship fellow.

In her free time, Tyler loves taking her god-twins to the park (or wherever they want to go), spending time with her grandmother, thrifting, and indulging in all things Louisiana: festivals, food (crawfish), and fun.
