Dr. Candice C. Robinson

Candice C. Robinson, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She earned her Sociology degrees from Hampton University (BA), University of Iowa (MA), and University of Pittsburgh (PhD). Dr. Robinson’s research agenda is motivated by a commitment to understanding the contributions of the Black Middle Class and Black Elite to the longstanding civil rights organization the National Urban League and American society more broadly. Her work has far-reaching implications in the areas of race, class, social inequality, social movements, and Africana studies.
Outside of her research and teaching, Dr. Robinson is active in civic, cultural, and service endeavors through her sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the National Urban League. She joined the movement via Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Pittsburgh in 2015 where she served as Public Relations Co-Chair and Vice President. She now serves as a member of the National Urban League Young Professionals Leadership, Training, and Development Committee.
