Crystal Orr

President, Urban League of Union County, National Urban League

Crystal A. Orr is a young millennial leader who is dedicated to improving her community and uplifting others. Born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ, Crystal has always been active in her schools and organizations and started volunteering as a child. She credits her parents, Ronald Orr, a retired school administrator and Georgia Jones- Orr, Esq., a former Municipal Court Judge, for being great influences in her life. 

Crystal is currently the new interim President/CEO of the Urban League of Union County, Inc. She helps those who are most in need in our underserved communities receive opportunities and second chances by providing support in Housing, Employment, Social Services and Reentry services (for the formerly incarcerated). Prior to her new position, Crystal volunteered her time to the Urban League including being the founding member and president of the Urban League of Union County Young Professionals in 2012. At 32 years old, she is currently one of the youngest Urban League CEOs. 

Crystal has previous work experience in healthcare, technology, marketing, entertainment, and sports. She was the Project Domain lead at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ and on the Financial Services Global Marketing and Communications team at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. In the beginning of her career, she worked at the New York Jets in Corporate Partnership Services, and at the Pittsburgh Steelers in marketing and events. 

Over the years, Crystal has helped to coordinate free community programs from college fairs to financial workshops, provide students with academic scholarships for college, and mentor teenage girls through her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. As a passion project, Crystal started a health and wellness platform, Finding Hope with PCOS, to share information and bring more awareness about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Crystal is also a proud member of Heart of Worship (HOW) Church in East Orange, NJ. 

Crystal graduated from Rutgers Business School at Rutgers University, where she received her Master of Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing and Strategy/Entrepreneurship. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh. Throughout her academic career, Crystal has studied globally in Beijing, China, and Greece. 

Crystal attended high school at Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth, NJ and was the Salutatorian of her class as well as a 1000+ points scorer in basketball. She has been featured in Ebony Magazine as one of the Top High School Seniors of 2008 and has received a resolution from Elizabeth, NJ City Council and a State of New Jersey Senate and General Assembly Joint Legislative Resolution.
