Linda Young
Director of Social Services, Nontraditional Employment for Women
Ms. Young is a Licensed Social Worker for the State of New York, holding a Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service in New York City. She has over 25 years of experience and leadership in the mental health, education and social work fields. She is passionate about empowering women to overcome barriers and achieving economic self-sufficiency.
In her role as Director of Social Services at Nontraditional Employment for Women (NEW), Ms. Young ensures that the women of NEW receive the counseling, resources and support they need to succeed in pre-apprenticeship training and obtain job placement in the skilled building and construction trades and other non-traditional careers. She founded and has served for over 10 years as field instructor with NEW’s Social Service Internship Program, supervising Master of Social Work students from several New York City colleges and universities. Ms. Young has provided presentations on best practices in the provision of supportive services to women returning to the workforce with such agencies as the Workforce Professionals Training Institute, New York City, the Employment and Training Administration of the US Department of Labor and the National Urban League.
