Keri Hilson
Award-winning singer-songwriter, Keri Hilson, known for mega-hits like “Pretty Girl Rock” and “Knock You Down,” is making her highly-anticipated return to music. During her 9-year hiatus, Hilson revealed her experience with depression, leading her to become an advocate in the self-care & mental-health communities.
Now, she invites listeners into her journey in a new project slated for 2020. Hilson describes her latest musical contribution as “an open letter to the fans I’ve abandoned during my time away. It explains where I’ve been and what I’ve gone through.” The project is relatable to anyone who has experienced the ups and downs of life, love, and womanhood, and she bares it all with no filter, telling her story from lost to found. In ‘Keri Hilson’ form, she showcases an organic, emotional, and authentic performance; and the sound—a salute to the soul of true R&B.
Although Keri Hilson worked as a successful songwriter for many years prior, her big break under stage lights came in 2006, when she signed a joint-venture with super-producers Timbaland & Polow Da Don at Interscope Records. Shortly after, Timbaland’s collaborative single, “The Way I Are,” became her first chart-topping hit as a performer. Her debut album, In a Perfect World, was released in 2009, and peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100’s Chart. Featuring her breakthrough solo single “Energy,” the album was also Certified Gold via the Recording Industry Association of America. Her success continued with her Sophomore project, No Boys Allowed, which released in 2010 and included the Platinum single, “Pretty Girl Rock.” Her talents have earned her a BET Award, MOBO Award, an NAACP Image Award and two Soul Train Music Awards, along with multiple nominations for both Grammy Awards & American Music Awards. Her songwriting talents have landed her a Grammy Award.
Hilson has appeared in films such as romantic-comedies “Think Like A Man,” “Almost Christmas,” “Love By the 10th Date,” and sci-fi thriller, “Riddick.”
In 2018, Hilson launched The Keri Hilson Foundation, a non-profit organization which aims to empower women and youth via the arts, physical, & mental health.
