Britton Smith

Since 2015, Britton has led national civic engagement efforts as National Political Chairman for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., mobilizing over 170,000 members around voter registration, civic education, and legislative advocacy, including reinstating Kappas on Capitol Hill. Following his Capitol Hill career, he contributed to the White House task force on criminal justice reform and later advised presidential transition teams. He has played a key role in advancing criminal justice reform at both state and federal levels, including supporting passage of the First Step Act, and in 2022 co-chaired the inaugural Joint Fraternal Legislative Day uniting all five Divine Nine fraternities for collective advocacy in Washington, DC. Britton currently serves on multiple advisory and oversight boards, including the New York State Office of the Ombudsman’s Independent Review Board, Purdue University Northwest’s Center for Justice and Post-Exoneration Assistance, and Always for the People.
