Yanicke Harper
Associate, Housing and Community Development, National Urban League
Yanicke Harper is with the National Urban League Housing Division as an Associate of Housing and Community Development overseeing the Housing Stability Counseling Program. She received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University and Undergraduate degree in Psychology from The City College of New York. She has provided over 18 years of social services in community-based, non-profit organizations, as well as the New York City Council. She had begun her career working for the Administration of Children Services as an Early Childhood Coordinator in Harlem, New York. In 2012, she worked with Cardinal McCloskey Community Services as the Family Case Manager providing housing and educational related services to ensure that her clients obtain permanent affordable housing and educational resources to seek higher education. Yanicke also served as a point of contact between attorneys and constituents with eviction proceeding cases, in which Yanicke was able to advocate for those constituents to prevent homelessness. In 2021, Yanicke worked with Henry Street Settlement as a Social Worker/Housing Specialist, in this role she collaborated with Department of Homeless Services and Housing Preservation Development to provide services to women and children who were faced with homelessness or were at risk of homelessness. She worked with state and federal rental assistance programs to help clients with housing security. She also conducted research and evaluation and completed a capstone project on public health policies to improve population mental health in urban areas.
