Oneida Carey
Director of Housing, Urban League of Hampton Roads
Ms. Oneida Cary began her career as a Financial Analyst for Bank of America and served as an Officer for the bank for 23 years. She began working for Urban League of Hampton Roads in April 2010 as a Call Center Team Leader for Virginia Natural Gas’ initiative, and later served as a Loss Mitigation Counselor.
Ms. Cary facilitates education workshops such as Rental, Mortgage, Fair Housing, and Foreclosure Prevention. She counsels participants in pre-purchase, rental, mortgage default, and budget and credit counseling. In July 2020, Ms. Cary received her HUD Certification as a Certified HUD Housing Counselor and expanded the services in her department through her grant writing skills. In 2020, Ms. Cary received an award from the Virginia Association of Housing Counselors as the Rising Star Counselor of the Year. In 2021 during the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Leadership Conference, Ms. Cary was awarded for Excellence in Housing Counseling Management. Due to Ms. Cary’s excellent service to the community with the Urban League of Hampton Roads, she was promoted from Housing Counselor to the Director of Housing in May 2022.
After all her accomplishments, she still enjoys working with clients and assisting them as much as possible.
