Sasha Cotton
Sasha Cotton is the Senior Director of Strategies at the National Network for Safe Communities
(NNSC) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. NNSC, is an internationally recognized action
research center that provides proven, evidence-based, life-saving violence reduction strategies to
dozens of communities across America and beyond. Ms. Cotton’s prior work experience includes
serving as the Inaugural Director of the Minneapolis Office of Violence Prevention, Prevention
Program Manager at the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women & as the National Resource
Center Coordinator at the Institute on Domestic Violence in the African American Community. In
addition, her experience also includes over a decade of direct service positons in corrections,
probation and other violence prevention related efforts. Ms. Cotton currently represents Minnesota
on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, serves on the FBI Minneapolis Community Engagement
Council and is the Vice President of the African American Leadership Council.
