Marsha Mockabee
President & CEO, Urban League of Greater Cleveland
Marsha A. Mockabee serves as president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Greater Cleveland. She is the first female to hold this position at the 105-year old Cleveland affiliate. In this role, Marsha leads an agenda empowering African Americans to develop and exercise their potential on par with all other Americans through education, research, advocacy, and provision of services. Marsha has more than 35+ years of nonprofit leadership experience, as well as educational credentials that include a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University (cum laude), a CNM from Case Western Reserve University, and MBM from Indiana Wesleyan. Marsha’s accomplishments have been recognized locally and nationally. She serves on many committees and community efforts. Since 2010, she has served on the National Urban League’s Education and Jobs Task Forces. In February of 2013, she was selected to lead an Equity and Excellence in Education initiative for the State of Ohio.
Marsha serves on many committees and community efforts: Member of the Board of Visitors Committee for Cuyahoga Community College; Access Center Advisory Committee for Cuyahoga Community College; Ohio ESSA Learning Community and the Community Chair of Ohio Education Leadership Learning Community; Northeast Ohio Education Leadership Learning Community; Make Racism A Public Health Issue in the City of Cleveland (founding member); Cuyahoga County Citizens’ Advisory Council On Equity Initiative; Member of Board of Unify Labs; Member of The Women of Color Foundation Board; Member of the National Council of Negro Women; and Co-lead for the My Brother’s Keeper Cleveland Initiative. She is also a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2013.
