National Urban League Celebrates Dana Douglas as the First Black Woman Nominated to United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit

Washington, D.C. (June 21, 2022) — Today, Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, released the following statement after President Biden announced Judge Dana Douglas as a nominee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit:

“I could not be more pleased to congratulate Dana Douglas on her nomination to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Her impressive credentials and expertise make her well-suited to serve in one of this country’s most prestigious roles. The National Urban League commends President Biden for continuing to follow through on his commitment to appoint qualified nominees like Judge Douglas and we urge the Senate to swiftly confirm her nomination.

Since 2019, Judge Dana Douglas currently serves as a United States Magistrate Judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Douglas worked in private practice, served on the New Orleans Civil Service Commission, and served as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.”
