Louisville Urban League Receives $5M in Education Funding

LOUISVILLE – The Brown-Forman Foundation, established by the spirits company the Brown-Forman Corporation, has just given Louisville non-profits a huge boost.
In a press release released last Tuesday, May 10th, the foundation announced that they will be giving Louisville non-profit organizations a $50 million in funding to strengthen educational opportunities within Louisville. Among those organizations is the Louisville Urban League (Louisville, KY).
The Urban League received $5 million from the Brown-Forman Foundation, which will be used to support that will increase educational access for families affected by the achievement gap, including tutoring for Black students.
President of the Louisville Urban League, Sadiqa Reynolds, is excited about the funding. The funding will now enable the Urban League’s to scale their educational programs faster and, according to Reynolds, and knowing their funded for at lease a decade, will enable them to plan for the future.
“It feels like they have really been paying attention,” Reynolds commented of the Foundation. “They’ve been listening and they’re willing to make a long-term investment. I’m proud of Brown-Forman today. There’s always more that can be done, but you do have to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for this investment.”
