Boeing Awards STEM Grant to Urban League for Gary Youth

 

GARY, IN – Thanks to a grant by Boeing, fifty of Gary’s students will have the opportunity to participate in STEM programs.

The funds were given to the Urban League of Northwest Indiana (Gary, IN) to help create a bigger interest in science, technology, engineering and math programs among Gary’s youth.

These STEM programs will take place in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Northwest Indiana.

STEM Signing Day is an event presented by Boeing that celebrates the Gary Community School Corp., and charter school students that are underrepresented in STEM fields. Recognized students will pursue their STEM degrees at top-tier colleges and universities, partnered with mentors in their chosen field.

President and CEO of the Urban League of Northwest Indiana, Vanessa Allen-McCloud, has said that the STEM “field is constantly expanding and offers great career opportunities for students.”

In addition to this grant, the Urban League has offered several programs and scholarships to help Gary students.

The Urban League Scholarship application window will close on March 27, 2022.
