What's Next in Criminal Justice Reform: Building New Alliances For Change

We know the inequities of our criminal justice system have devastated our communities and families.  Reforming the numerous problems with our criminal justice system will require more than social justice advocates and policymakers engaging. The depth of the problems plaguing our system will require all sectors of society, including the private sector, to engage if we are to obtain meaningful reforms. We need new alliances between the public and private sectors to drive real change. . Join Marc Morial, Craig Silliman, Verizon executive vice president and chief administrative, legal and public policy officer, and Jarrett Harper, Represent Justice campaign ambassador and activist, for a discussion about what comes next in criminal justice reform, how can corporate leaders and social justice advocates can work together for change and how have the inequities of our criminal justice system are hurting our entire society.  From the racial biases underpinning the U.S. mass incarceration to the pressures the prison population faces as a result of the current pandemic, the session will spotlight how creating proximity to the injustices of our system and the humanity of justice-involved people can create unlikely relationships and create new coalitions for change.
