CLEVELAND (Dec. 12, 2022) – With the help of JPMorgan Chase and others, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland (Cleveland, OH) launched its Equity Institute on Thursday, Dec. 8th.
The Institute was launched at a symposium held at the Hilton North Downtown Cleveland.
JPMorgan invested $125,000 into the Institute, which hopes to be dedicated to creating pathways for organizations and individuals to education, training, skill development, and other programs in an institute specifically dedicated to the areas of diversity and ESG spaces.
Marsha A. Mockabee, President and CEO of the Urban League, said, “The Urban League is in a unique position and time in history, to be a pivotal player in the Race, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and ESG spaces.”
TALLAHASSEE (Dec. 12, 2022) – The Tallahassee Urban League (Tallahasee, FL) wants to fix Frenchtown.
On Wednesday, Dec. 7th, the Tallahassee City Commission voted to approve a recommendation that would authorize the Urban League to administer $900,000 in funds for a Frenchtown Housing Rehab Program.
The program is part of the Frenchtown Neighborhood First Plan, which is an action plan that tries provide grants and loans for internal and external home repairs. The plan will renovate and repair one area of Frenchtown before moving on towards another, which has a greater impact on the community.
President and CEO of the Urban League, Curtis Taylor, said, “We want to transform Frenchtown.”

Washington, D.C. (December 8, 2022) — Today, Marc H. Morial, President and CEO of the National Urban League, released the following statement on Brittney Griner’s release from Russia’s custody this morning:
LORAIN COUNTY (Dec. 5, 2022) – The Lorain County Urban League (Elyria, OH) Guild provided the community with an afternoon of jazz music on Sunday, Dec. 4th.
Held at the Urban League offices on 200 Middle Avenue, the event is in its second year.
Urban League Guild President Angela Lee said, “The Urban League does so many things for our community so as the guild we are here to support them financially and as community volunteers. We’re here to better our community because we are the movement.”
The event also included a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle…and football.
At the event, there was a separate room for those who wanted to view the Cleveland Browns game.
