Cherrelle Duncan
Actor, Author, and Public Speaker
Cherrelle J. Duncan is a dynamic leader with a passion for public service, literacy, culture, and community. She serves as Chief of Staff for Council Member Tiffany D. Thomas, District F of Houston City Council. In that role, she leads strategic planning and project management efforts in service of the 200,000 constituents in District F. She manages funding to support numerous projects driving impact in youth engagement, city beautification, public safety, and economic development. Since March 2020, she has helped coordinate the pandemic relief efforts: emergency food distributions, animal food distributions, a COVID-19 rapid-testing site, and an eviction prevention clinic. In addition, she has championed community voice by coordinating town halls, citywide youth conferences, and employment fairs. Duncan also serves as the Clerk of the Housing and Community Affairs Committee role where she oversees initiatives to address issues citywide regarding housing, veterans affairs, solid waste, and homelessness.
Cherrelle currently serves as the Leadership, Training, and Development (LTD) Committee Chair of the National Urban League Young Professionals (NULYP) for the 2022-2024 term. Her committee’s efforts are focused on delivering comprehensive content, training, and resources to over 60 chapters and 10,000 young professional leaders nationwide. These training and development opportunities enable leaders to be effective in their personal lives, professional lives, and the greater National Urban League (NUL) movement. In 2019, as an LTD committee member, Duncan worked to secure a $50,000 national sponsorship with Be The Match alongside NULYP and NUL leadership to bolster the work of multiple chapters within the movement. Prior to this role, she served terms as the Vice President (2018), Treasurer (2017), and Fund Development Chair (2015) for the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals.
