Distance Learning: Achieving Education Equity and Excellence In A New Normal

School closures due to coronavirus have impacted at least 124,000 U.S. public and private schools and affected at least 55.1 million students. At least 45 states have closed schools for the rest of the academic year.  Over 1,100 colleges and universities in all 50 states have canceled in-person classes or moved to online instruction. As distance learning has become the new normal in education, longstanding inequities have been exacerbated and created uncertainty in the academic progress of the most vulnerable students, including students of color. The National Urban League has brought together a panel of leaders who will discuss the challenges teachers and students face in a distance learning school model as well as policy solutions to promote the well-being and academic success of all students.
