Vivian Cox Fraser

President and CEO, Urban League of Essex County

Vivian Cox Fraser is President and CEO of the Urban League of Essex County, where she has served since 2004. Under her leadership, ULEC has evolved into a comprehensive community development organization committed to expanding opportunity and creating pathways to economic mobility for children and families.

Vivian has championed an integrated approach that connects education, employment, financial empowerment, affordable housing, and neighborhood revitalization. Today, she is leading new initiatives focused on building family wealth and strengthening communities through affordable homeownership, financial coaching, and place-based development designed to help longtime residents remain and prosper in their neighborhoods.

She is also spearheading the development of the Urban League Literacy Center in Newark, a major initiative aimed at improving childhood literacy, engaging families, and making reading a community-wide priority.

Prior to joining the Urban League, Vivian held senior positions at Prudential, Credit Suisse, and CIGNA. She is a graduate of Goucher College and earned a master’s degree in economics from Yale University, where she was a National Science Foundation Fellow.
