Across his career, Dr. Manyindo has helped develop, secure, lead, or manage over $100 million in funded grants and initiatives from federal, state, local, corporate, and philanthropic sources. His portfolio includes major investments from the federal Social Innovation Fund, CDC, CMS, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the City of New York, ranging from six-figure community initiatives to multimillion-dollar programs like a $23 million social service–mental health integration project and an $8.6 million community health worker initiative.
Dr. Manyindo has a deep understanding of the Urban League movement. Previously, as Senior Director of Community Health & Wellness at the National Urban League, he led national health programming across 94 affiliates in 36 states, serving as lead author on over $4.4 million in successful proposals during his first two years while managing full-lifecycle oversight including subcontracts, workplans, and budgets. He also offered advisory support to leadership at several affiliates regardless of whether they were receiving funding from his portfolio. As an Assistant Commissioner with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, he oversaw an $87 million bureau budget and more than $40 million in citywide community behavioral health initiatives. Later, as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Community Health and Social Medicine at the CUNY School of Medicine, he grew departmental grant applications from $8 million to $18 million and newly funded awards from $1.5 million to $6.5 million by implementing organizational management improvements.
Today, through Noel Manyindo Consulting, LLC, he partners with mission-driven institutions on organizational capacity, funding strategy, and program sustainability. In his presentation, “Before You Say Yes to the Grant,” Dr. Manyindo draws on his extensive multi-sector experience to provide leaders with practical tools, a clear roadmap, and a framework for making strategic, financially sound decisions that ensure long-term impact.
