Nicole “Nic” Grant is the Managing Director of Policy for REFORM Alliance, a national organization exclusively dedicated to the reform of probation and parole systems around the country. As Managing Director, Nic works to improve public safety outcomes nationwide through partnership building with bipartisan coalitions, lawmakers from across the political spectrum, and directly-impacted advocates. Nic has spent over a decade in public service, advocating for improvements to local and state systems on behalf of system-impacted individuals. Prior to REFORM, she served as the Fairness Project’s Director of Policy & Partnerships, where she spearheaded policy efforts for ballot measure campaigns in Los Angeles County, California; Cleveland, Ohio; and San Antonio, Texas, among other locations, while also coordinating efforts to protect ballot measure processes around the country in support of progressive policies. Nic’s career in public service began in the Office of the Mayor in Portland, Oregon, where she spent five years guiding policy efforts around public safety, houselessness, housing affordability, and sustainability. During this time, Nic’s primary focus was the oversight of public safety policy under the city’s settlement agreement with the Department of Justice, which included establishing and developing the framework for Portland’s innovative and successful independent civilian oversight body.
