Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill And Build Back Better Agenda Are Essential Remedy For Trumpist Neglect

Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill And Build Back Better Agenda Are The Essential Remedy For Decades Of Tea Party And Trumpist Neglect

“These bills are about competitiveness versus complacency. They’re about opportunity versus decay. They’re about leading the world or continuing to let the world pass us by, which is literally happening. To support these investments is to create a rising America, America that’s moving. And to oppose these investments is to be complicit in America’s decline. To support these bills is to pursue a broader vision of our nation. And to oppose them is to accept a very cramped view of our future.” – President Biden, October 5, 2021, Howell, Michigan.

September Jobs Report: Delta Continues to Hamper Economic Recovery

The September Jobs Report reiterates once again that economic recovery is not possible without bringing the COVID-19 pandemic under control. Only expanded vaccination of the population  will create health conditions that are conducive to steady, balanced economic growth.

The labor market reflects the reluctance of many workers who were laid off when the pandemic struck to return to work, fearing they might contract the virus.

The slower than expected job growth in September underscores the urgency of enacting the infrastructure and budget reconciliation packages, which together could create 2 million jobs by mid-decade, and provide support for as many as 4 million jobs per year over the course of the 10-year budgeting window, according to the Economic Policy Institute.

Urban League Movement Helps 500 Families with Hurricane Ida Relief Efforts

On the weekend of September 24th, volunteers from affiliates in over seven states came to New Orleans to assist with the Hurricane Ida relief efforts. Urban Leaguers, including a large contingent of Young Professionals, came from across the country - some by chartered bus from Houston, others by car and air. Upon arriving in Houston, Urban Leaguers went straight to work. For several hours, they packed up bags of food, water, and clothing.

The next day, community members joined Urban Leaguers to help distribute cases of water, tarps, diapers, PPP Kits and children’s coats over the course of several hours to cars lined up outside the Ninth Ward Community Center. At the end of it all, volunteers had helped give supplies out to over 500 families in need that weekend.
