The Marketing and Communications Department is responsible for all marketing, promotions, publicity and media outreach efforts for the National Urban League. The department provides strategic direction and coordination of all brand marketing and public relations activities to communicate the organization's mission, programs, research and advocacy efforts and oversees both Conferences and Publications divisions.
Working closely with Urban League affiliates nationwide, the Marketing and Communications department fosters relationships within national and local media, as well as corporate, government and non-profit partners to promote the work of the organization through radio, television, and print media and the League's major events, books, and website. To facilitate public awareness of the National Urban League's mission, programs, research and advocacy efforts, Marketing & Communications:
Handles all public relations and media outreach efforts for the National Urban League and its key executives, including National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial and designated executives.
Conducts press outreach and identifies opportunities to support organizational initiatives including events, programs, campaigns and work products;
Develops all marketing and public relations materials to promote and publicize these activities including brochures, press releases, media advisories, interviews and in-house publications;
Handles all on-site media operations for National Urban League events, press conferences and programs, including the Legislative Policy Conference, The State of Black America, the Annual Conference, the Equal Opportunity Day Dinner and the Black Executives Exchange Program (BEEP), the Black Male Commission, Urban Entrepreneur Program, and the Whitney M. Young Institute.
