National Urban League Receives Award for Outstanding Community Service in 2006 From Minority Business Council
New York, NY - February 14, 2007 -
The National Minority Business Council honored the National Urban League with the Charles T. Haffey Outstanding Community Service Award for 2006 at a Wednesday luncheon in New York City.
The accolade recognizes the Urban League for "outstanding performance in providing African Americans and other minorities the knowledge to achieve economic independent and empowerment."
The council praised NUL's urban business initiatives for their effectiveness in nurturing minority-owned businesses by providing key services, support and mentoring.
"Armed with the tools and knowledge they need in order to succeed, entrepreneurs and small businesses will continue to positively impact our local neighborhood economics. We commend the NUL's decades-long steadfast commitment to advancing the movement and congratulate you on this prestigious award," said John F. Robinson, the council's president and CEO.
NUL President Marc H. Morial described the council's recognition as "a truly meaningful honor."
"Since 1972, the National Minority Business Council has played an important role in helping minorities and women start their own businesses. We at the National Urban League are proud to have received such a commendation from such an historic and worthwhile organization, he said.
