Nearly three years after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the Gulf Coast region continues to rebuild. With $10 billion worth of public and private projects up for grab, there are significant opportunities for small and minority-owned businesses. The National Urban League and BP America are helping small and minority-owned businesses identify and secure contracting opportunities to take advantage of this influx of funds with the Gulf Coast Economic Empowerment Tour.
The tour will provide information on management support services for businesses such as bidding and estimating, marketing, and effective proposal writing. Government agencies and major contractors will also be on-site to share current business opportunities.
Economic empowerment is a core component of the National Urban League's Opportunity Compact that embraces four major tenets: Thrive, Earn, Own and Prosper.
